Windows 10 Release Date Update: Key Features On Board – Transparent Live Tiles, Enhanced Photos App, Actionable Notifications And More
Microsoft is apparently gearing up to release the Windows 10 technical preview build for an additional 36 models of Lumia series of devices including the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520. In any case, Windows Phone users with version 8.1 running on their devices will reportedly be able to update to Windows 10 before the end of 2015. And it is worth noting that, the Windows 10 will apparently come as a free upgrade. As the Windows 10 release date nears close, here is a set of key features from the major OS update, collated by Express UK.
Synced Notifications
Apparently, the notifications that are an important part of any handset will be improved with the latest Windows 10 OS. Similar to Android, the notifications in Windows 10 will reportedly be actionable. This means, Windows 10 users can reply back to messages and ignore notifications across all devices running on Windows 10.
Enhanced Live Tiles
Speaking of Windows Phone, the customisable live tiles will be the first aspect to come to the mind. But with the Windows 10 on board, the system tiles will reportedly turn translucent. This means, the background image will be visible behind the transparent tiles.
Improved Word Flow Keyboard
Apparently, Microsoft has tweaked the keyboard in Windows 10. The new Word Flow keyboard can now be resized and can also be dragged across the display to look for better positioning within the wide range of screen sizes available in Windows Phone. In addition, a new dictation feature is apparently part of the new keyboard.
Enhanced MS Outlook And Office
Because of the new universal app system, Microsoft Outlook will apparently look the same and feature the ribbon interface across devices like laptop, tablets and smartphones. Apparently, Outlook will utilise the full Word engine for formatting.
On the other hand, Microsoft Office will reportedly come as default with Windows 10 for phones and tablets with smaller screen sizes. It is worth noting that, both Android and iOS users have access to touch-optimised suite of Office apps. However, with Windows 10, the improved MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel will be landing in the Windows Phone run devices and therefore the experience will be consistent and rich, notes the same site.
Stunning Photos App
Interestingly, the albums and captured images will reportedly be synced across multiple device types like tablets, laptops, desktops and phones running on Windows 10. Plus, the synching of data is apparently achieved by utilising Microsoft's cloud-storage space dubbed OneDrive. And moreover, the new photos app has the ability to automatically get rid of duplicate images. Adding a cherry on top, Microsoft has an updated camera app with the Windows 10. And well-received “Lumia Camera” will reportedly be default in Windows 10.
