Windows 8, ASUS Zenbook Rolls Out in Australia

Due to Australia's geographical location, Aussies were among the first in the world to purchase the rolled out Windows 8 operation system by Microsoft, as well as new devices that run on the OS.

With the simultaneous Oct 26 launch of Windows 8 and the gizmos in key markets such as the United States, Germany, Japan and Australia, Aussies enjoyed the advantage of owning the new OS at least several hours ahead of their Asian counterparts or half a day compared to North American and European techies.

The Friday launch ends months of previews, reviews, analysis, and much anticipation from the global technology community..

In Sydney, around 50 people showed up for the midnight launch of Windows 8 at the Harvey Norman concept store. Gerry Harvey and Ben Mcintosh, head of Harvey Norman's computing talked about the 12 midnight first sale of Windows 8.

Mr Harvey raffled among the customers who filled out forms who would be the first to purchase Windows 8. The winner had an extra prize, a Toshiba ultrabook valued at $1,700.

Besides Windows 8, new notebooks, tablets, and all sorts of PCs using Windows 8 were also launched on Friday.

One of them is ASUS Zenbook which introduced to the public its advanced Ultrabook. The device follows the same original razor thin and light weight design but is powered by the 3^rd generation Intel i7 processor. ASUS said it has the perfect balance between style and performance.

The ultrabook has SonicMaster audio to ensures high sound quality, while its Full HD multi-touch display uses IPS technology to provide high-quality image with rich colours even viewed from any angle.

There are five models of the ASUS Ultrabook for Windows 8 and Windows 7 users.
