'Winds of Winter' Update: George R.R. Martin Forgoes Script Writing To Focus On The Book
The author of the upcoming book “Winds of Winter,” George R.R. Martin, has confirmed that he will not be writing the script of any episodes for “Game of Thrones” Season 6, in order to focus on writing the book. The author also clarified some misinterpretations about his cancellation of attending a few events later this year.
Important announcements about “Winds of Winter” are made by George R.R. Martin on his official blog. The latest post by the author states that he will not be writing the script for the next season of “Game of Thrones” to focus on some of his other works, including the next book.
George R.R. Martin also explained that although the only writing he will be doing will be on “Winds of Winter,” this is not the only project he will be working on. The author revealed that he will be editing the latest volume of “Wild Cards,” consulting on a few video games, working as a producer for a “Wild Cards” movie, working on three new TV concepts and also focusing on his newly formed production company that will be making low budget short films.
The author also clarified that the previous announcements about not attending the World Fantasy Convention and the San Diego Comicon do not mean that he has cancelled his appearance in all future events. He pointed out that it was easier to skip attending these two specific events because he was not a guest of honour at these events.
George R.R. Martin confirmed to his worried fans that he still plans to attend the Seattle Norwescon next week and also the Conquest event over Memorial Day in Kansas City. Apparently, many fans who have bought tickets for these events contacted the author after reading about him cancelling a few events. The fans had bought the tickets with the hope of seeing the author at these events.
Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting for the release of “Winds of Winter.” The previous book in “A Song of Ice and Fire” series was released in the year 2011. Commenting on George R.R. Martin’s post, some of the fans expressed their excitement about not only the new book but also the possible new TV series.
