‘The Witcher 3’ Blood and Wine first impressions suggest a fitting wrap-up to Geralt’s story
Even with a few days left before Geralt’s final adventure overruns “The Witcher 3” fans, the first impressions of the upcoming expansion are in.
One resounding review from critics is that the expansion is potentially the best final page in Geralt’s journey. While it presents a different side to previous expansions, Blood and Wine seems to go full circle, Game Informer reported. It brings back the twists, big battles and choice-driven progression that “The Witcher 3” is known for.
It also helps that side quests are not your usual complete the quest experience, as it is in line with the overall theme of the expansion. According to PC Gamer, the DLC can actually be completed in around 10 hours if a player wants to finish each mission as fast and as efficient. However, the side quests are something that will not only enhance the story, but also allow the player to explore the new land to its fullest.
There is also remarkably good character development and situation progression that lets a decision become even more important and graver to the player and the game, Rock Paper Shotgun reported.
For those who have yet to see the latest trailer for the final expansion, check out the video below. It shows off the atmosphere of knights, a medieval town and the ghouls that lurk in the shadows. It’s a little less gory than what the reviews and teasers have hinted at, but it maintains the overall theme of the expansion “The land of wine is drenched in blood.”
“The Witcher 3” Blood and Wine expansion invites players to journey one last time as Geralt of Rivia. Explore Touissant, which is a land remained pure from war but plagued with its own brand of horrific secrets.
The expansion will set players a good 30 hours or more of conquests and adventures. “The Witcher 3:” Blood and Wine” will launch on May 31. There are still some ongoing sales that feature “The Witcher 3” and its expansions, so players who have yet to get a copy should take advantage of this.
