Wolverine not in the new X-Men movie, says director Bryan Singer
Wolverine will not be in X-MEN: First Class. Director Bryan Singer made the statement following rumors that Wolverine will be in the upcoming X-Men movie after Australian actor Hugh Jackman was spotted in Georgia, where X-MEN: First Class is supposed to be filming.
Bryan Singer denied the reports, telling Geek Files: "He's not in the movie, he's in the Wolverine movies."
A Fox representative echoed Singer's denial further confirming that Wolverine is indeed not part of the new X-Men movie, and that granted that Hugh Jackman was spotted in Jekyll Island, Georgia, the film is yet to begin filming on the state.
That Wolverine is not in the movie seems logical, as the X-Men character has its own movie coming up set in Japan. Besides, director Singer said: "We've set First Class in a time when the X-Men were conceived in the early 60s, up against political events that were happening - the early civil rights movement - and we have these kinds of events at a time when the world didn't know mutants existed."
X-MEN: First Class will be released on June 3, 2011. The film is currently in production at Britain's Pinewood Studios. James McAvoy will play Charles Xavier while Michael Fassbender will portray Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto). The new X-Men movie chronicles the early years of Xavier and Magneto and the events leading to the formation of the X-Men and Brotherhood.
