A 38-year-old woman slipped and fell 25 metres off a Sydney cliff. Her lifeless body was later discovered on Tuesday near popular swimming hole Mermaid Pools in Tahmoor.

Megan Moody's passion for adventure proved to be fatal as her trip with fiancé Paul Veitch eventually took her life. Veitch was behind Moody when he saw her slip and fall off the cliff in bushland in the south-west of Sydney. The 36-year-old man told police that Moody had lost her footing when she was walking to fetch water in a billy can, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. He found her to be unconscious when he rushed down the cliff. However, all efforts to resuscitate her was in vain so he called "000."

According to Camden Police Inspector Jayne Doherty, there was no indication that Moody's death was more than a tragic accident even though all possibilities were taken into consideration. She said that the Campbelltown couple was planning to camp near Girl Scout's shed. The last afternoon the couple spent together was spent in bushwalking. They had reportedly bought food and supplies before they went for the overnight adventure. Doherty said that there was no argument between the couple who were apparently spending a "good time" together. However, she could not confirm if the couple had consumed alcohol before going for the expedition. Homicide detectives were notified as a part of standard protocol even though Camden police had been investigating the case.

Veitch dated Moody for six months before announcing their engagement earlier in 2014. His September post on Facebook revealed that Moody had made him so happy in six months that he proposed to her. He later expressed his happiness when the ring fit and Moody said yes to his proposal. He also posted a photo where the couple could be seen together arm in arm. Veitch called it "another day in paradise" as he and his girl finally had the chance to get "little pad up the mountains."

Mermaid Pools warns travellers on its website about the potential hazards. It says that care should be taken with small children as the walk has many cliffs and water hazards along the way.
