Woman From Queensland Survived On Creek Water And Small Insects For 17 Days
Diedre Sharrock, a mother from Queensland, said that Shannon Leah Fraser of Innisfail is 30 years old that survived through a 17-day ordeal. She had lived in a rugged bushland with creek water, small fishes and insects to feed on.
Diedre told Courier Mail that a farmer had found her daughter, a mother-of-three, after she stumbled out of a bush. She also said that her daughter was badly burnt, in addition to losing a lot of weight. She added that the family and friends had thought that she was dead and they were thankful to God that she was alive. She called the event incredible and amazing.
Shannon is a cancer patient that has also suffered from many infected cuts because of fighting the scrub. She had told her family that she sat in a creek for a span of three days for the purpose of soothing her cuts and burns. Shannon is said to be recovering in the hospital.
Last September 21, Shannon went missing. She was last seen at the Golden Hole, a popular swimming spot, near Josephine Falls.
She had gone swimming with her partner and one other man. Her partner had told the police that for a period of about five to ten minutes, he had left her alone near the river but when he returned, she wasn't there.
After her disappearance, the police set of on an intensive search involving a helicopter search as well. The police had suspicions that she might have been subjected to foul play. Her mother had also made a public appeal for information. Visitors to Golden Hole and Josephine Falls offered information as well as video footage to the police in the hope of helping them find Shannon.
The police had considered her disappearance as suspicious and even suspected that she was murdered, reported Cairns Post. They had considered all possible scenarios. They had told the family that the worst could have happened to Shannon.
On October 8, she was found safe and well. The police have not confirmed anything about her reappearance except to reveal that she was found and was safe.
