Woman Stuck In Chimney: Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa Arrested For Attempted Break-In After Rescue Team Pulls Stuck Woman Out Of Chimney
Rescue team responded to the reports of residents on Woodside Drive in Thousand Oaks, California about a woman, identified as 30-year-old Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, crying for help. The authorities arrested the woman for attempted break-in after firefighters destroyed the chimney to free her.
Ventura County fire captain Ron Oatman confirmed in a Fox News report that they received a phone call at about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, from the Woodside Drive residents to report the sound of Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa's cry for help. The firefighters had to destroy the roof and chimney then lubricate it with dish soap in order to pull the stuck woman out.
The fire department's spokesman further shared that a ladder truck and stokes basket were used as well in hoisting the woman out of the chimney. Nunez-Figueroa had no injuries but she was still taken to a hospital where she received evaluation.
Afterwards, the police arrested the woman for suspicion of illegal entry even though Nunez-Figueroa claimed she knew the owner of the house. A Mail Online report further revealed that the woman was also arrested for giving false information to the authorities. Click HERE to see photos.
According to MTV News, the owner of the house, who identified himself as "Lawrence" to the local reporters, admitted that he knew the woman who got stuck in his chimney. Lawrence revealed that he met Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa on the Internet and they went out on a half-dozen dates.
Lawrence initially found Nunez-Figueroa "totally cool" until he experienced the first red flag. According to the owner of the house, the woman was on his roof top two weeks ago. After the first alleged break-in incident, Lawrence decided to end his relationship with Nunez-Figueroa.
"I hope she stays offline. Even if she's online, people are going to know who she is now, so you're welcome," Lawrence stated. The owner of the house is now cautious on meeting people over the Internet.
"You have to be careful who you meet online. It wasn't Santa Claus, for sure," Lawrence shared to CBS2. Meanwhile, Nunez-Figueroa's family reportedly offered the owner of the house that they will cover the expenses for his destroyed roof and chimney.
