Woodford Folk Festival has announced its line-up for this year's 6-days and nights events. Yesterday, it also announced that two-time Grammy Award winning group Arrested Development is joining the festival.

This year, Australian alternative band The Cat Empire will headline the opening day along with That 1 Guy.

The Woodford Folk Festival is an event of international standing. The festival will run for six days and six nights from Dec 27th to January 1st, with more than 2000 performers and 580 events programmed featuring local, national and international guests. The festival will be held on a 500-acre environmental parkland located on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, on Jinibara Country, which is just over 1 hour north of Brisbane.

Here's the schedule for this year's event (lifted directly from their Web site) :

Monday 27 Dec: A beautiful opening ceremony is followed by the triumphant return of the magic-pipe and That 1 Guy and the sheer joy of one of Australia's favourite live acts, The Cat Empire.

Tuesday 28 Dec: Welcome Senegalese/French hiphop outfit Daara J Family, US-based soul-explosion The Dynamites feat. Charles Walker, and the feel-good sounds of two-time Grammy award winners Arrested Development.

Wednesday 29 Dec: With hammer-and-tong rock outfit The Basics, ex-Midnight Oil and Violent Femme members reimagining thundering surf sounds with The Break, and iconic Aussie alt-rock legends You Am I, it's Rock, Roll, and weird sci-fi psycho-surf sounds.

Thursday 30 Dec: Welcome to the carnival - ex-Butterfingers frontman Evil Eddie, Norwegian multi-instrumentalists Katzenjammer, revolutionary Aussie tour de force Blue King Brown, and a dance meltdown with mad scientist That 1 Guy.

Friday 31 Dec: Four hours of exuberant New Year's Eve Celebration with The Big Bang featuring The Bird, Circle of Rhythm, Greg Sheehan, The Barons of Tang, Spankinhide, Yeshe, Ali Baba, Mani Neumeier and Etsuko Watanabe, Rasa Duende, Fourplay, stringmansassy, Tenzin Choegyal, Zulya and Mr Percival.

Saturday 1 Jan: The entire festival site shuts down and all Festivillians make the pilgrimage to the beautiful Ampthitheatre for our closing celebration, The Fire Event. Featuring a Choir of over 100 campers and a beautifully scored soundtrack to rituals played out with lanterns, dancers, and fire.
