Woody Allen was honoured at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, but his ex-partner and his alleged biological son weren’t too happy about it. In fact, Mia and Ronan Farrow did not waste time letting people know that their level of contempt at the acclaimed filmmaker hasn’t gone down a notch even decades later.

But why is that?

Woody was not in attendance when he was presented with the Cecil B DeMille lifetime achievement award. It was Diane Keaton, a former girlfriend, who accepted the honour on his behalf, saying something like women are “the hallmark of Woody’s work.”

“It’s kind of hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that 179 of the world’s most captivating actresses have appeared in Woody Allen’s film. And there’s a reason for this. And the reason is they wanted to,” Diane explained, launching into an a capella of the song “Make New Friends” later on.

Mia, who dated Woody from 1980 until 1992, stopped watching the Golden Globes by the time Woody’s tribute was up.

Her 26-year-old son, Ronan, also missed the tribute but he was more vocal of his feelings for his estranged dad.

Missed the Woody Allen tribute - did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall? — Ronan Farrow (@RonanFarrow) January 13, 2014

Mia followed with another tweet:

A woman has publicly detailed Woody Allen's molestation of her at age 7. GoldenGlobe tribute showed contempt for her & all abuse survivors

The amount of vitriol that they spewed at the multi-award-winning filmmaker was obvious, and the public somehow knew it has something to do with Woody having sexual relationship with Mia’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, while they were still together.

Woody’s Relationship With Soon-Yi

It can be remembered that Woody left Mia for a younger woman, particularly her 19-year-old daughter with former husband Andre Previn. It was said that he purposely let Mia discover her own daughter’s pornographic pictures, which perhaps was his way of breaking the news to her.

Although Mia and Woody have never been married, his relationship with Soon-Yi was called a scandal in the early ‘90s, often being referred to as an illicit love affair between a stepfather and his stepdaughter. Soon-Yi chose Woody over her family, and the couple married in 1997.

Mia And Woody’s Other Adopted Daughter, Dylan

The woman that both Ronan and Mia mentioned on their tweets was not Soon-Yi, however, but Dylan, Mia and Woody’s other adopted daughter.

In 1992, Mia accused Woody of molesting their daughter, Dylan, who was just seven years old. In a detailed account in Vanity Fair magazine, Mia said that Dylan told her how her daddy would touch her “private part.”

Woody has ardently denied the claim, blaming Mia for their daughter’s alleged lie. The evidence against Woody was found to be inconclusive, and so the public never knew the truth behind their family drama.

In October 2013, Dylan, who has assumed another name since, has spoken for the first time about the molestation, telling Vanity Fair that she remembers what happened in the attic, where they incident apparently took place.

“There’s a lot I don’t remember, but what happened in the attic I remember. I remember what I was wearing and what I wasn’t wearing. The things making me uncomfortable were making me think I was a bad kid, because I didn’t want to do what my elder told me to do.”

She continued, “I was cracking. I had to say something. I was seven. I was doing it because I was scared. I wanted it to stop.”

Dylan also said that Woody tried to contact her twice by sending her a mail with a stranger’s name for a sender. The mail had pictures of her and Woody, with a note from her adoptive father saying that he still thought of her as his daughter and that Soon-Yi missed her.

Ronan’s Real Father

The public knew that Ronan was the only biological child of Mia and Woody. (Mia has three more biological children with ex-husband Andre Previn, and nine adopted ones.) But in the same Vanity Fair interview in 2013, Mia said that Ronan, who was born Satchel Ronan Farrow in 1987, could possibly be the son of her first husband, Frank Sinatra, whom she split with in 1968. There wasn’t any love lost between Ronan and Woody, anyway. Ronan has been dissing Woody for years, with one of his tweets in 2012 reading:

Happy father's day -- or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law's day. — Ronan Farrow (@RonanFarrow) June 17, 2012

Woody’s Denial

Woody has been denying every accusation thrown at him from the start. He claimed that his only fault was falling in love with Soon-Yi, never acknowledging that his relationship with Mia’s daughter had devastated their family.

The world may have polarising opinions on the Mia-Woody cases, but her children clearly have taken their mother’s side. Woody has lost custody of their children, with his other adopted son, Moses, deliberately choosing not to have any contact with him.

Meanwhile, Woody and Soon-Yi are still together. They have two adopted daughters, Bechet Dumain (born 1999) and Mazie Tio (born 2000). Mia, on the other hand, is believed to be single, and is active with her activism in Africa.
