Woody Allen says American movies lack creative spirit, made for money
Woody Allen criticized American cinema for making movies for money and lacking creative spirit.
In a press conference in Spanish City of Oviedo, the director said that majority of films from the American cinema over the past decade were made for money and lacked creative spirit unlike European films which Allen say is much more artistic.
Woody Allen was in Spain to attend the premiere of his latest film You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger.
In the same press conference, Allen said he began shooting movies in Europe cities because he could not afford to film in New York anymore.
But the Oscar-winning director said that films set in European cities requires more tailoring of the story to fit the location.
The romantic comedy You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger was shot in London and stars Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin and Antonio Banderas. At the news conference in Oviedo, Allen was joined by Lucy Punch and Gemma Jones, who also star in the film.
