Worcestershire cricketer and expert liar's contract terminated
Professional English cricketer Adrian Shankar, is the topic of the most talked-about scandals in the history of the sport. ESPN's Cricinfo exposed the story about how the "athlete" lied his way to a cricket career, despite being lawfully and physically inept to do so.
Without explanation from the club officials, The Worcestershire Cricket Club has terminated Shankar's contract just two weeks after signing the former Bedfordshire batsman, and ESPN's cricket-themed sports show Cricinfo has uncovered the reason why. Shankar's resume, including his former cricket experiences, date of birth, and references are all untrue. Not only that, but according to his coaches, he has been performing really badly on matches, and somehow he has managed to survive a 10-year career without being caught - until now.
The most controversial lie is Shankar's "presence" in Sri Lanka's Mercantile league, where Worcestershire allegedly "discovered "the "26-year-old" player. It just that Shankar didn't play for the Mercantile league or any other first class leagues at all - and he is 29 years old. Shankar submitted his birth certificate at Cambridge stating he was born in 1982, but because he is a con artist by heart, the law major was able to obtain a counterfeit version with 1985 as his birth year. Shankar be became captain of the university's cricket team under Chriss Scott, whom had been falsely quoted in a press release regarding Shankar's performance. According to the coach he never said anything about Shankar being one of the finest players the team has ever seen after Crawley.
Cricinfo also revealed why Shankar was proven to be a fraud - the cricketers who were supposed to be with him in the 20Twenty tournament were either playing on different leagues or inactive. On a different note, truths about Shankar were released by his former coach Scott, "He was a poor player, and there's no way I could have recommended him" after he said Worcestershire never asked his opinion about the lying "athlete".
