“But sometimes it is frustrating when you are sat here and there is someone who you have played with and they have been in your position, they have suffered with you and they know what it's like to be down - and they pile a bit more misery on you.” - Steven Gerrard on Paul Schole's criticisms Reuters

England skipper Steven Gerrard felt that he has been betrayed by long-time international teammate Paul Scholes.

The Manchester United man pointed out, what he feels are, weaknesses that the Three Lions have prior to the World Cup.

While Gerrard acknowledges the fact that everyone is entitled to speaking out their perspectives, it just did not feel right when it was made by a former comrade.

"In this position as captain you have to accept there are opinions out there," said the Liverpool living legend.

"I am not sitting here telling everyone they have to stop. Everyone is entitled to their opinion."

"But sometimes it is frustrating when you are sat here and there is someone who you have played with and they have been in your position, they have suffered with you and they know what it's like to be down - and they pile a bit more misery on you."
