For the third time in their respective boxing careers, Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado will slug it out on top of the ring. Top Rank president Todd duBoef made the announcement on social media Twitter stating that the bout will be held at the First Bank Center in Denver, Colorado.

Brandon Rios (32-2-1, 23 KOs) also shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight via Twitter calling the third one against Alvarado (34-3-0, 23 KOs) the “World War III”:

Looks like we have a date Jan 24 in Denver Colorado it will be World War III with Alvarado. When tickets go on... http://t.co/fw0cKq3x50 — Bam Bam Brandon Rios (@Brandon_Rios1) December 3, 2014

While both are Americans, Alvarado is expected to have the home fans advantage being from Colorado himself. Alvarado was born in Denver and resides in Thornton, Colorado in the United States.

Both boxers are not the best fighters in their division nor they have performed well in their most recent fights. However, their previous two encounters were classic enough to warrant a third fight. Rios won the first match on Oct. 13, 2012 via seventh round knockout win. Alvarado bounced back some five months later on March 30, 2013 when he defeated Rios via a close 12-round unanimous decision (115-113, 115-113, 114-113). Both fighters had a crack at top competition in recent years. Rios lost to Manny Pacquiao in 2013 and Alvarado lost to Juan Manuel Marquez in 2014.
