WorleyParsons and Flour Corp joint venture awarded $202M Saudi project
Saudi Arabian Mining Co (Ma'aden) announced that it has awarded a $202 million contract to Fluor Corp and WorleyParsons Ltd for the supervision, engineering and procurements of its alumina refinery.
In a statement to Saudi Arabia stock exchange, Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) said that contracts totalling $453 million for its aluminum smelter joint venture with Alcoa Inc. to WorleyParsons Ltd and Fluor Corp.
Fluor Corp also won another $177 million for engineering works, procurements and supervision of the construction of the complex's rolling mill before the end of 2013.
Fluor Arabia, the Saudi affiliate of Fluor Corp, was awarded a $74 million contract for management of services at the complex and engineering works and supervision of infrastructure at the site.
The project is expected to be completed by December 2014.
Earlier this month, WorleyParsons confirmed that a joint venture between it and Fluor Corp has received a letter of intent from Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the development of a major new world class bauxite mine and alumina refinery in Saudi Arabia.
WorleyParsons posted a $390.5 million profit for the financial year to June 30 2009.
Earlier this month, WorleyParsons confirmed that its current expectation of net profit after tax for 2010 financial year remain in the range of $280 million to $320 million.
