It has been almost nine months since CM Punk last graced the ring of the World Wrestling Entertainment. He has completely shut off Twitter, leaving his legions of followers with little to none updates. The only breadcrumb in the trail is a legal battle that is ensuing between Punk's representatives and the head honchos of WWE.

Dave Metzler of the Wrestling Observer reports that Punk's legal representatives have sent out a demand to the WWE by way of a 22-page letter stating his claims for royalties from the video game. While no litigation has commenced, it is believed that WWE will also sue Punk for breach of contract after leaving his obligations unceremoniously with the outfit.

Last January, TMZ Sports broke the news that CM Punk, born Phillip Jack Brooks, was enraged with the way WWE planned to use him for Wrestlemania 31. After learning that he would fight Triple H instead of being entitled of the title match, Punk went on a sabbatical and distanced himself from the organisation. He was apparently enraged that Batista was handpicked by the organisers to fight the title bout when he had been working hard for the outfit, even appearing in international events. As a result, he did not appear on Monday Night Raw after Royal Rumble and snubbed the Smackdown event, even if he was heavily advertised to appear in the said fight.

Since then, different speculations have circulated the wrestling community on the reinstatement of Punk. After a series of meetings, WWE dimmed the lights for his return to glory. According to Bleacher Report, the outfit removed all items that featured the Straight Edge Superstar from the WWE Shop, a sign that WWE is ready to part ways with its former ward. Now, with the claims for royalties, it would be expected that CM Punk will be altogether removed from WWE 2K15 as well. Many would wonder if the pushing back of the release of the said video game has anything to do with Punk.

Nevertheless, this thing has not yet escalated to Chris Benoit territory wherein all mentions of the name of Punk had been removed from the annals. In fact, from active player, Punk is listed now as an alumnus and was even listed number 6 in the list of the ten greatest fights of John Cena. While we await CM Punk's return, let us watch his clobbering times in 2014:
