X Factor Australia on Wednesday sent home "What about Tonight" after the young boy band got the lowest number of votes.

What About Tonight joined Nathaniel Willemse at the bottom two after the votes were cast. They got two votes each from judges Ronan Keating, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Guy Sebastian and Mel B. It was then up to the viewers to decide, and Nathaniel won a slot in the show's Top 10.

WAT's mentor, Ronan Keating, promised the young boys he would help them become successful in the music industry despite their early departure from the competition.

Meanwhile, WAT is hopeful for a possible collaboration with UK's One Direction. The two boy bands met in London via the X Factor.

"Ronan is in contact with One Direction," WAT band member Brock Jays told news.com.au.

"We are hopefully later on doing something with them which would be amazing... They're our idols and they really like us. That talked about us everywhere saying that we should potentially win it (The X Factor)," Jays said, adding, "It would be amazing to travel with them and see what Ronan can do to help out."

The group admits they are shocked by the results. They had a well-received performance Tuesday night, and they have a good following on social networks.

Jays thinks most of What About Tonight's fans are so young they may have been unable to keep up with the voting due to credit requirement.

"It is just so surreal what happened... We actually have a very high fan base," Jays said.

What about Tonight has almost 19,000 followers on Twitter. Jays has nearly 42,000 followers.
