‘The X Factor Australia’ Cans Redfoo, To Sack Another Judge
Redfoo is not coming back to “The X Factor Australia,” as is another still unknown judge. According to a new report, the “New Thang” hitmaker has lost his seat at the Channel 7 talent show’s judging panel, and he will be joined by Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Ronan Keating or Dannii Minogue.
Confidential reports that two judges will be out of the picture and replaced by two new “superstar” judges for next season. It has named Redfoo as one of the two who has been kicked out of the show.
Apparently, he was the obvious one to go after the bosses decided that it’s time to shake up the show. It appears that his controversial song “Literally I Can’t” might have helped the decision to not renew his contract anymore, but Confidential believes that even before the song was released, Redfoo’s position was always in doubt.
“Literally I Can’t” was bombarded with criticisms when it was released in October 2014 for allegedly having misogynistic message. An online petition was even launched to ask Channel 7 to fire the 39-year-old U.S. singer from X Factor. Redfoo had repeatedly denied that the song meant to be sexist.
The X Factor Australia panel has not been changed since 2013 when Redfoo and Dannii joined the show and replaced Guy Sebastian and Mel B respectively. Natalie joined in 2011 when she replaced Natalie Imbruglia, while Ronan was one of the first judges introduced when the series was revived in 2010.
The report’s sources didn’t reveal who among the three remaining judges would be given the boot as well, just claiming that Ronan, Dannii and Natalie are all well-liked by the producers. Natalie is currently serving as a judge in the New Zealand version of the X Factor after the abrupt sacking of controversial judges Natalie Kills and Willy Moon. Redfoo, on the other hand, was just eliminated from “Dancing with the Stars” in the U.S.
Meanwhile, Redfoo’s club attacker has pleaded guilty to assault. Arian Berisha, 21, admitted to throwing a glass at the former LMFAO singer at the Golden Sheaf Hotel in Sydney. He will be sentenced on May 26.
