‘The X Factor Australia’ Deadlock Sends Omar Dean Home [VIDEOS]
“The X Factor Australia” judge Ronan Keating has lost his first talent with Omar Dean’s elimination on Monday night. Omar was sent packing after getting the lowest number of viewers’ votes, giving Jiordan Tolli, who was in the bottom two with him, at least another week in the Seven Network’s talent competition.
The 20-year-old Melbourne resident sang his cover of Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” on Sunday’s live show, earning a standing ovation from the judges. However, the public apparently wasn’t impressed enough to vote for him.
19-year-old Jiordan, meanwhile, delivered a good but a bit pitchy rendition of “Royals” by Kiwi international star Lorde. And while the judges agreed that the song was perfect for her, she, too, got low public votes.

But before the bottom two’s announcement, English singer-songwriter James Blunt returned to the “X Factor” stage to give viewers a taste of his new album “Moon Landing” with the lead single “Bonfire Heart.”
Being in the bottom two for the week, Omar and Jiordan had to impress the judges for what could be their last time. Omar opted for “You Found Me” by The Fray, while his female competition took on Rihanna’s “Stay.”

As expected judges Ronan and Redfoo backed their own acts, with Ronan choosing to send Jiordan home and Redfoo deciding to eliminate Omar from the competition. Without giving any reason, judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte then chose to vote out Omar, while Dannii Minogue sent the vote to a deadlock by choosing Jiordan to be eliminated.
With the bottom two in deadlock, they would have to rely on the earlier public votes to determine which one to send home. Omar, unfortunately, had originally received the fewest votes, and was therefore eliminated from the running.
His exit means Ronan has finally lost his first act. The Boyzone star was up until then the only judge who still had a complete set of act. He is now left with Taylor Henderson and Jai Waetford.
Jiordan’s survival, on the other hand, means that Redfoo still has an act in the running. His other singers, Ellie Lovegrove and Joelle, both got the boot in earlier episodes.
That leaves the show with its Top 5. Jiordan joins Taylor, Jai, season favourite Dami Im, and the group THIRD D3GREE for another round of live performances in next week’s Aussie Hits-themed show. The remaining contestants are also joining “The X Factor” tour which will kick off on November 23 after the show ends.
