X-Factor Australia S5 Ep2 Recap: Contestants Leave Judges Crying and Fighting and Empowering Hundreds Others
The second episode for Season 5 of X-Factor Australia has proven that the success of the first episode is not a beginner’s luck and week two shows that the reality competition comes back with a bang in 2013 with strong ratings and great contestants giving Aussies reasons to sit down week after week.
This week’s highlights included judges both crying and bickering over the talented contestants that greeted them onstage. Featured contestants offered not only promising talents but also great stories to tell.
Jiordan Tolli
The 19-year-old Tolli is a familiar face having spent seven years of her life on one of Australia’s popular soap opera called Neighbors. She played the role of Lolly, the daughter of one of the major characters in the show, Lou Carpenter.
She took the stage and auditioned with Birdy song.
As to why she braved the stage to showcase her other talent, Lolli said she has her years of training on the soap to help her face a new challenge.
She said, "To be given that opportunity at such a young age was awesome."
"It (Neighbours) has taught me so many things, like to be calm around cameras and crew. It is already helping me so much."

Jordan Rodrigues
He impressed the audience with his beat-boxing, combined with breakdancing moves as he sang Usher’s DJ Got Us Falling in Love. Judge RedFoo thought that his singing voice was “rough,” but all agreed that he’s got something new to offer. Jordan is through for the next round.

Cat Vass
The 27-year-old Cat Vass took with her a guitar and she wowed the audience with her rendition of Unchained Melody. There was no doubt that she touched the heart of everyone, including the four judges who all agreed that she deserves to be on the next stage of the competition, having possessed all the qualities that they are looking for.

Element
Following Cat Vass is a group of five girls who call themselves Element.”They described themselves as a combined version of Destiny’s Child and Little Mix. They took to the stage with Marron 5’s One More Night, and walking the talk, they did impress the judges. But Ronan had shaken things up a little bit among the group, and he pointed out that one of the members, named Nada is cut above the rest, with the distinct and strong vocal talent. Will there be five when they come back for the next round of the competition?

Adam O’Brien
He came a little off in the beginning, but Adam managed to redeem himself with his performance of Alicia Key’s Fallin. RedFoo likened him as “New Zealand's Marvin Gaye.” Ronan and Dannii both agreed that he was a bit unpredictable, but reiterated they love him as such that they all agreed to say yes to Adam.

Hayley Sillar
If the judges didn’t have second thoughts giving Adam their big yes, they were unsure with Hayley at first. She didn’t quite sit well with her rendition of Christina Aguilera’s Nasty Naughty Boy. She was described however, as the female version of popular artist Johnny Rufo, and this was a big factor for Hayley to make it to the next round. She got yes.

Ofisa Toleafoa
The gay man from New Zealand has made the most buzz on week 2 of the X-Factor Australia, Season 5. Ofisa Toleatoa has certainly made the right choice with his audition song, I Am Changing, by Jennifer Hudson. Not only did it fit his singing voice and that he delivered a spectacular performance, but his rendition has touched many hearts, leaving many in tears.
His choice represents much of the story he wants to tell and the song came out perfect for Ofisa. Giving goosebump was his declaration that he chose the song sending a message to his mum “reportedly struggling to accept his homosexuality.”
Dannii though it was “one of her favourite auditions ever,” while RedFoo conceded, saying “he has to see more” from Ofisa that he wants to see him back in the competition. Ofisa, now popularly known as “Tee,” advanced to the bootcamp stage, kicking off next week in the competition.
