X Factor snatches 'Torn' singer from career
POP star Natalie Imbruglia has quit her singing career, and will use her time as a mentor on upcoming television show X Factor. Imbruglia chose to focus on the new television show.
The singer said she "put everything on hold to do [X Factor]" taking time to figure out and plot a future path. At present, Imbruglia enjoys being a mentor in the music industry.
Her recent album, Come to Life, containing tracks written by Coldplay's Chris Martin, was unsuccessful. It sold for a meagre 750 copies in its first week and did not break to top 50. Imbruglia sought investors, but she ded up financing the album herself. "It's really hard out there. There is not as much money in the industry. They don't want to pay for campaigns."
Natalie had a worldwide hit with her debut single, Torn, and her album Left of the Middle sold six million copies. Mentors on X Factor include singers Ronan Keating and Guy Sebastian, and broadcaster Kyle Sandilands. X Factor screens on Channel 7 later this month
