‘The X-Files’ season 11 update: Fox confirms revival season, Gillian Anderson sceptic
While there has been an update regarding “The X-Files” revival, here is some more good news for fans. Fox network is all revved up to bring back the show with “The X-Files” season 11, and what’s more — the show’s original characters Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will be back… with a bang!
That being said, Gillian Anderson, who played the role of Dana Scully, has of late been a tad sceptic about the show’s return. Late November last year, she was reported telling Reuters that she believes the show “is finished.” For the record, Anderson will be seen in two Hollywood films, "Crooked House" and "Viceroy's House," both slated for a 2017 release.
Fox CEO Gary Newman, however, assures of “The X-Files” season 11, saying the show will “get there,” regardless, according to a Variety report. However, he added that the timing has not been sorted yet. This leaves fans to deduce the idea that the FBI special agent duo will be seen on screens sometime in 2018? And then again, only if Gillian Anderson makes up her mind to get back on board.
Apparently, there is no need to mention that the previous season ended with a jarring cliffhanger. While people were left wondering if Mulder (David Duchovny) managed to survive and if Scully evaded being abducted by a gigantic alien spaceship, Fox is expected to continue with the series for answers… and if they are to have a longer season.
Nonetheless, Gillian Anderson’s comeback is extremely important, and it seems Fox will have to get out of their way to convince the actress, who insists the show has gotten over. The studio remains optimistic, however, for “The X-Files” season 11, with Fox president David Madden confirming that “a lot of conversations are going on.” “As you can imagine, these conversations are complex. We hope to be able to announce something shortly,” Madden said, according to TV Line.
