'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast: Patrick Stewart And Ian McKellen Not Reprising Roles As 'Professor X,' 'Magneto'
Fans of the "X-Men" movies will not see both Professor X and Ian McKellen for the next "X-Men" film. The actor playing Professor X, Patrick Stewart said so himself.
Asked if fans can see more of him on the 2016's "X-Men" movie, Patrick Stewart, who played the enigmatic "Professor X," revealed the unfortunate news that he would not be making an appearance on the upcoming movie anymore. "I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters. And so I don't think we'll be making an appearance," Stewart shared on the show (via Yahoo Movies). He added that fellow actor Ian McKellen, who plays Magneto, would be absent on the said film too.
Variety reports however that fans should not despair as Stewart might still be seen in any of the future X-Men related films lined up for the future, such as the "Gambit" movie (starring Channing Tatum), the "Deadpool" fllm (starring Ryan Reynolds," or more other X-Men installments.
Earlier, Cinema Blend released some information on what could be expected from "X-Men: Apocalypse." According to the site, the movie would be set in 1983, a decade after the events on "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Both Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult would be reprising their roles, but this time, they will be playing their characters 21 years older than when viewers first saw them in "First Class." Young versions of the famous and classic "X-Men" characters, Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm can also be expected. Actors to play these younger versions are still undetermined. Apocalypse screenwriter Simon Kinberg told Yahoo Movies that looking for these young talents would be a "tall task."
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" performed well, with actors from the original series and the reboot altogether fighting the evil forces. However, the upcoming installment, "X-Men: Apocalypse" would be more focused on the "New Class" cast, including James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbinder. The upcoming movie is slated to be shown in theatres nationwide on May 27, 2016. Oscar Isaac, the star in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," would be playing the main antagonist.
