After watching "X-Men: Days of Future Past," fans are now looking forward to its sequel, "X-Men: Apocalypse." The movie is almost two years away from its release date. However, details, rumours and speculations teasing the plot continue to pop up.

Latest reports swirling around describe the potential/speculated plot hinting at the return of Hugh Jackman's character Wolverine. According to Enstars, "X-Men" actor Hugh Jackman will be recreating his character Wolverine in the sequel. The report notes his character will now be given a "new direction."

Based on the comics, the entertainment news website speculates Hugh Jackman's character's "reinvention" may mean the transformation of Wolverine into Weapon X. Citing what's given in the comic books, the website states that during the reign of supervillain Apocalypse, Weapon X, aka Wolverine, and Jean Grey venture together and "carry out missions for the Human High Council." Elaborating on the storyline, the website notes that in the wake of the nuclear attack on the U.S., Jean Grey backs out from the mission and devotes her time to help citizens in moving out of the country to a safer place. And the two end up taking different paths. Meanwhile, Weapon X heads to find Gateway, a mutant with teleportation superpowers. The team needs Gateway for the purpose of bringing the "fleet to America." According to the report, Weapon X joins the fleet to find his lover Jean Grey.

However, the studio is yet to release an official synopsis or description for "X-Men: Apocalypse." Thus, this should be treated as mere speculation until formally confirmed. Meanwhile, it can't be said if the franchise will follow the storyline as given in the comic books or make some amendments.

Furthermore, in another report, Enstars speculates on the role of Jennifer Lawrence's character, Mystique. Based on the events stated in the comics, the website suggests Mystique could add more mutants to the team. This may include her son, Nightcrawler, joining the team of Magneto.

Meanwhile, fans know En Sabah Nur will rise as the supervillain Apocalypse. He will be assisted by the Four Horsemen and Akkaba clan. Besides Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, the movie is expected to bring back many other recurring cast members. The movie is scheduled to be released on May 27, 2016.
