Xbox 720 News: A New Console Design to be Revealed in May; Imitation of the PS4? Plus Doom 4 Confirmed for Xbox 720
A Doom 4 development has finally been confirmed for the Xbox 720 and other next-gen consoles, but Xbox 720's reveal and design are yet to be confirmed, but speculations that it would take on a look and feel of a PS4 could be a delight to gamers of all ages.
Confirmed details about the Xbox 720 are hard to come by, but if there's one definitive development, it would have to be that Doom 4 is coming to the Xbox 720, the PS4, and the PC.
Ten years after its Doom 3 predecessor, The Examiner reports that reboot of Doom 4 has failed to meet expectations and will be delayed for release. However, it is gearing up to be a next-gen game for Xbox 720, PS4, and the PC.
"Id refocused its efforts on a new version of Doom 4 that promises to meet the very high expectations everyone has for this game and this franchise," said Bethesda VP of Marketing and Public Relations Pete Heins to The Examiner.
This is the third time that Doom 4 will be going back to the drawing board, but with the aimed release for next-gen consoles, it can be a make or break title for the franchise.
Time to mark your calendars for an Xbox 720 May reveal?
Any news of the Xbox 720 brings a flutter to eager and highly hopeful gamers, which is why a May reveal, even if it's just a glimpse of the console or even a similar event as Sony's reveal of the PS4, will do.
And analyst Colin Sebastian of Robert W. Baird said that this is possible, because it can be the announcement for shares, reports GameSpot.
In any case, no word from Microsoft confirming or denying this bit of news has been revealed, so gamers can speculate and remain hopeful for the best for the time being.
Xbox 720: A PS4 twin on the inside?
Any news about the Xbox 720 console has, so far, been rumors, speculations, or hopeful leaks, which can frustrated any gamer who just wants to know what he's gearing up for in a next-gen console.
The PS4 has already revealed what it can do, even though the next-gen physical console has not yet been revealed. But it seems that the Xbox 720 has its reasons for keeping mum about its console bet.
According to TechRadar, it seems that Microsoft is tweaking the Xbox 720 in order to match up-or perhaps even surpass?-the offerings that Sony has granted its next-gen bet.
This came from an interview with Ubisoft CEO Yannis Mallat, who commented that Microsoft will be offering pretty much what Sony has already announced aligning its design and function to be similar to its competition.
From what has been revealed so far, the biggest change in the PS4 is that it will be very connected and interactive, as well as having graphics that will just blow you off, justifying the five-year wait that gamers had to endure.
Even with this tricky but ingenious plan, it has been a taxing thing for developers such as Ubisoft, who are currently trying to work out the kinks to develop next-gen games.
OXM.com reports that even the developers have no idea what the Xbox 720 will be like, but despite this, development of next-gen games has already commenced.
"We had no other choice but to rely on our own vision of what next-gen could be, from our point of view. We didn't wait for first parties to describe their systems or deliver test kits," said Mallat to OXM.com.
So it may be that even though the next-gen consoles do make an appearance, any significant changes that could affect games can, in turn, delay release dates, resulting in further waiting for gamers.
For now, it's still down to speculations and high hopes for the Xbox 720, but there's still June's E3 2013 for a potential big reveal, although, based on the May release news bit, it's a fingers-crossed scenario that there will be hints earlier on.
