Xbox 720 or Infinity to Ditch the MS Points & May Feature PC-Like Structure?
Gamers have been expecting a bevy of changes and improvements for the next-gen Xbox 720 or Infinity console, but probably not a lot were looking at a possible change in the system for purchasing.
In a report from CNet, it was stated that users of the next-gen Xbox may be looking at gift cards and credits cards instead of the well-known Microsoft Points when making their purchase online.
Additionally, it was also reported that credit cards or gift cards would work better with the Windows Store and the Windows Phone Store. And it is also not Microsoft's first move to switch from points to credit cards, as it had already done so before for music and videos via the Windows 8 Store.
The mere mention of Windows 8 comes to mind the previous rumors about how the Xbox 720 may carry the OS for an easier approach for developers in building games and software, reports Trusted Reviews.
This would mean a more integrated approach to the way Microsoft creates content for its various platforms.
Also, if this is the case, The Inquisitr reports that there has not been any word regarding this matter or even any details if there is a possibility of converting existing points to gift cards, but you might as well get ready to cash in your Microsoft Points if the rumor does hold true.
PC architecture coming to next-gen Xbox 720?
Even with the lack of any updates prior to Microsoft's Xbox 720 event next week, there has not been a slowing down of scouting for potential points of speculation for the upcoming console.
This time, it's all about job listings for potential talent that can help enhance the next-gen console. OXM rounded up a few job listings, which, after speculation, may shed light on what can be expected of the Xbox 720.
Starting off with the potentially big addition to the features would be the job listing for a hardware design verification engineer, who will be dealing with optical disc drives, thermal, and firmware testing.
According to OXM, this may be the first step towards Microsoft's innovation to a more PC-like structure, as earlier rumored.
There is also a service engineer for network technologies and systems efficiency, which may pertain to the Xbox Live. The reported appearance of the X86 processing architecture in an earlier rumor is also suggested by search for a security architecture, as the listing calls for an experience with X86 and ARM ISAs.
Whether or not the talent will be used for the next-gen console before its holiday release or not is up for speculation, as it is a wonder why Microsoft will do hiring this far into the game.
