The change of heart for the Xbox One's stance on the Kinect or no Kinect debate may be the biggest thing to hit the console war for the meantime, but it also answers quite the number of issues for Microsoft's next-gen console.

The first would be the ever-talked about possibility of freed gaming capabilities that was once locked for Kinect use. Compared to the Xbox One, the PS4 seems to have been enjoying more power in performance, and this has held back the Xbox One on a number of occasions already, as in the resolution gate for multi-platform games.

But in the interview with Kotaku, Xbox One head Phil Spencer discusses how a Kinect-less Xbox One can and will perform with games.

"I know that developers want to get every bit of functionality out of the box that they can. In conversations I'm having with our partners, that's something that's come up," said Spencer in an interview with Kotaku.

"We need to land the right plan there so that we've ticked off all the boxes to make sure we understand all of the long-term ramifications... it's just about when we're ready to make those kinds of calls."

Another point of development that the Kinect-less Xbox One can turn into a possibility is that it can free up some of the power that had been devoted to the Kinect and give free reign to the developers on what can be done with these.

In an interview with Polygon, Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi stated that they have followed the feedback of the people, mostly in part due to the adoption rate of current Xbox 360 owners who have yet to move on to the Xbox One.

"The decision we're announcing today is offering a choice to people that would allow people to buy an Xbox One and then ramp up to Kinect when they can afford to."

As far as the capabilities that the Kinect offers, like the voice recognition, it seems that Microsoft may be considering using headsets for voice commands, to avoid taking away this capability even from the Xbox One that will not come with a Kinect.

Developments now looking at 1080p for Xbox One?

Considering all of the developments with the Xbox One, it's no surprise that analysts now have a much more favorable outlook on the future of the Xbox One.

In fact, some analysts have already put in their two cents' about what Sony should do as a countermeasure.

"Sony will need to re-group to maintain its momentum in the market with the E3 press events taking on even more significance for both companies now," said HIS analyst Piers Harding-Rolls to Games Industry International.

As far as Microsoft is concerned, the Xbox One just became even more competitive than ever before, and has already considered all of its weak points even before the E3 2014 has arrived.

"With two SKUs in the market, Microsoft has reverted to its Xbox 360 strategy. This gives the company some better flexibility with pricing, bundling and product positioning," said Harding-Rolls. "Price is an important factor at this point in the console cycle and in the consumer market. Xbox One without Kinect should sell strongly at $399 and count out-perform PS4 at the same price on a month to month basis, although I think market share competition between Xbox One and PS4 will remain tight for more of the cycle."

Preorder the Xbox One Without Kinect

Retailers are quick to act to the news of the Xbox One dropping the Kinect, and already preorders are available for those who want to get it by June.

Total Xbox reports that those who have held out on buying the Xbox One can now head over Amazon.co.uk, which is already offering preorders for the cheaper Xbox One with no Kinect.

GameStop also has the $399 Kinect-less Xbox One for those in the U.S., with a trade-in offer ongoing for 4GB Xbox 360 and even a 12GB PS3, which will receive a $75 in-store credit in exchange for when you buy the Xbox One. if you want a larger credit at $125, you can trade in your Box 360 with 250GB storage or a PS3 with 20GB or higher worth of storage.

Best Buy also has preorder options for the Kinect-less Xbox One.
