Xbox Spring Sale sees US$299 bundle, 150 games on sale, new backward compatible games revealed

Xbox One Spring Sale — The Xbox Spring Sale 2016 offers up to 60 percent discounts, with an additional 10 percent off for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Xbox Wire

Spring has begun at the Microsoft headquarters with the announcement of the new Xbox Spring Sale. The company is kicking this off with a 50 percent discount on all Xbox One console bundles in the U.S. for only US$299 (approx. AU$393). Among these bundles is the Xbox One Tom Clancy’s The Division bundle, which features the touted game, Xbox One 500GB Name Your Game Bundle that comes with four games of the player’s choice and the Xbox One Special Edition Quantum Break bundle, in time for the release of the time-traveling title from Microsoft Studios and Remedy Entertainment.

Coming also this week are some new discounts on Xbox and PC games, as well as other media content from the Xbox Store. According to Major Nelson's blog, the savings run up to 60 percent. This would be the best time for players to get big-name games like “Fallout 4,” “Halo 5 Guardians,” “Far Cry Primal” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.” The digital deals run from March 22 to 28, while disc deals are ongoing until March 26. Even Xbox 360 titles will also be on sale with the same deals of up to 60 percent discounts.

To further enhance the growing Xbox One ecosystem, the Xbox Spring Sale also encompasses some PC games and even TV show. The full list of offered games and media title can be seen in the link here. Microsoft also stated that it will be adding more offers throughout the week, so it’s best to keep checking the link for more offers.

Additionally, players who also have Xbox Live Gold subscriptions can add another 10 percent to the discounted prices of the games. This is on top of the benefits of Xbox Live Gold, which is online play with friends and more free titles by way of the Games with Gold. The latter is especially appealing, since Microsoft has hinted at the possible blockbuster titles that will be coming for the April 2016 Games with Gold.

At the same time, Microsoft has added a few more backward compatible titles for the Xbox One. Daily Star reported that the likes of “Alan Wake,” “Pac-Man” and “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night” will now be playable on the Xbox One. The backward compatible programme for the Xbox One allows Xbox 360 players to enjoy a number of their favourites on the next-gen console.

What this means is that for players who already own the three aforementioned games, or any of the titles that have been included in the backward compatible list, it’s easy to play them again on the Xbox One at no additional cost. Currently, there are over 130 titles that are on the list, and as the company promised, it will continue growing.
