Good news for those who are constantly looking intently at the Xi3 Piston's Steam Box.

SlashGear reports that the Xi3 Piston console is coming out with the price range of $1,000, and it's the first of the Steam Box manufacturers to come out with a price.

Cinemablend reports that, given the price, the functions are just as big a deal, since it includes a 3.2GHz quad-core processor, an 8GB worth of DDR3 RAM, 128 GB of SSD memory, and the option to upgrade to a 256 GB for $340 or to 512 GB SSD for an additional of $750.

The Xi3 Piston will be made available for retail come the holidays, but pre-orders are being accepted in the official Xi3 Web site. And those who pre-order before March 17can get a discount of $100, reports SlashGear.

Another company that's bent on creating its own Steam Box prototype is Valve, and it seems that it's not going to back down on the potential features, with reports on how the company is dabbling with biometric gaming for a more heightened gaming experience.

It seems that the Steam Box is making it convenient for those who want to play their Steam-based games elsewhere in the house aside from the bulky PC.

The hardware that streams the largely distributed Steam service, can now also do this for PC games and other media and link it directly to various screens and HDTV within the house, reports NBC News.

As for Valve's own Steam Box, there has yet to be a definitive date, but it's a definite sale this year, according to TechRadar. In fact, prototypes will be sent out as early as July for testing.

But this may be for the "Good" prototype, because according to Valve co-founder Gabe Newell, the company might churn out three hardware types, Good, Better and Best.

What's so good about this? Good may cost somewhere around $99 (to battle with the likes of Ouya), the Better device would be somewhere around $300 to compete with the other consoles already available, but with more advanced processors to beat the already-there competition.

And there's also the Best hardware, which may be an improved iteration of the traditional PC gaming systems. So basically, the Better option would be its Steam Box version, reports The Verge.
