The Xperia Z3: A Review On Sony’s New Flagship
The Japanese giant has been experiencing a not so good turnout in market share and product shipment. Failing to rank among the top five list of smartphone manufacturers despite the good reviews its flagship devices have been getting. Sony is cutting down its annual shipment target from 50 million down to 43 million.
Xperia Z3 as its latest flagship, Sony is hoping for a much better result that will live up to the giant Japanese company. With Sony's profit dipping relatively in the smartphone business, the Z3 is the company's hope for a big turnaround.
Based on TechnoBuffalo's review, the Z3 possesses the familiar design of its predecessor. The Z3 and the Z2 having almost the same look and even the same feel. Following the lead of other devices in the market, the Z3 switched over to an aluminum frame which gave it a more high-end premium feel. Compared to the drastic change of rival iPhone 5S to the iPhone 6, the Z3 sports a much more refined change. Having nylon caps covering each corner, the overall look of the Xperia Z3 is impressive.
Readers and consumers who are interested in the Sony Experia Z3 must read the review below based on BusinessSpectator.com report.
Display, Design and Size
Z3 is dubbed as the thinnest Android smartphone in the market with its 7.3mm frame (iPhone's 6.99mm frame). The device also sticks with the Xperia premium design formula having glass covered front and back, aluminum banding on the sides, physical camera buttons and still has its signature machined aluminum power button.
The latest entry has more refined edges and rounded corners that will give more comfortable feel. The corners of the phone have been nylon coated, which can minimize damage during an accidental drop. The Z3 is equipped with 600 nits which results to brighter display. It may not be as bright as the AMOLED but the change is most notable compared to the Z2 which has a brightness range of 400 nits. Z3's display is clearer and allows easy reading even under the sun.
It is noticeable that Sony decided to stick with the 5.2 inch full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) but such call from the company is greatly advantageous since users get to save more battery power as compared to having a Quad HD which requires more power.
Audio, Camera and Battery Life
Sony's high resolution audio is still a major edge among other smartphones. Z3's audio is supported by USB DACs for audiophiles and playback support for High Resolution Audio Files. It is also capable of playing regular MP3 or AAC tracks to Hi Res quality.
Equipped with the same 20.7 megapixel camera, Z3 is the first smartphone capable of hitting an ISO sensitivity level of 12,800 for better performance in low lights. It is also equipped with the new 25mm wide angle Sony G Lens for fitting more of a scene in a shot.
Z3 has a 2 day battery life when used in normal usage like checking of emails, social media, light web browsing, 2 hours of phone call, picture-taking and music playback.
Add-ons
Z3 has waterproof protection at up to a depth of 1.5 meters of fresh water and also has dust protection thanks to the IP65 and IP68 rating.
The major add-on feature is the ability to play Playstation 4 games on Z3 over Wi-Fi. Z3's ability to effectively turn into a portable PS4 is to die for feature for any Playstation 4 owner.
