Rihanna takes on a different path as she debuts her acting career in the upcoming movie "Battleship."

Although the popstar is popular for her risque outfits on and off stage, the "We Found Love" singer changes to a US Navy uniform to fit her role for the movie. The singer who just turned 24 was all covered up, so far and distinct from her usual choice of wardrobe.

In the film which will be released on May this year, Riri plays the role of US Navy officer Raikes. The Barbadian born singer will star alongside Liam Neeson, Alexander Skaarsgard, Taylor Kitsch and Brooklyn Decker.

"Battleship" is about a group of international navy ships that is attacked by an alien enemy during an international naval war games. Talking about her recent career shift, Rihanna says that she loves doing movies and it's something that she wants to do more of.

"I just want to pick films that are wise for me and roles that I can pull off, nothing that is too big for me," Rihanna said.

"She was great. She has a very strong part. I was surprised no one had ever thought to hire Rihanna. I was a huge fan of her videos," Peter Berg, the director of Battleship said in an interview with MTV news.

"Obviously she's sexy, but she had this real intensity. I'm like, "Someone's going to get her. I always believed in musicians as actors. I had great success with Tim McGraw in Friday Night Lights and The Kingdom," Berg added.
