Yoko Ono is "thankful" that Paul McCartney has decided to let go of his grudge against her. John Lennon's widow said that it was good to hear praises from her husband's fellow Beatle after decades of resentment.

McCartney, 71, started resenting his friend's wife when she began accompanying Lennon to the Beatles' recording sessions. She also took over his business affairs after he died in 1980. McCartney also allegedly got upset with Ono when she forbade McCartney to change some of their songwriting credits from "Lennon-McCartney" to "McCartney-Lennon."

McCartney's recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, however, showed that the feud, however apparently one-sided, has ceased.

He described Ono, 80, as a "badass," and said that he has moved on from his grudge.

"I thought, 'If John loved her, there's got to be something. He's not stupid.'

"It's like, what are you going to do? Are you going to hold a grudge you never really had?" he continued, adding that his late bandmate George Harrison's words that had encouraged him to let go of his bitterness.

"George would say to me, 'You don't want stuff like that hanging around in your life.'"

Yoko, for her part, was "very thankful" to hear McCartney has no ill will against her anymore.

"I never felt too bad about Paul," she told the Associated Press. "He was my husband's partner and they did a great job and all that. They seemed to have a lot of fun, and I respected that."

As for McCartney's "badass" comment about her, Ono has one thing to say: "Well, he's a rocker."

For years, the press and the public has blamed Ono for breaking up the Beatles. It was said that his influence over her husband has led to the band's acrimonious split.

But in 2012, McCartney has rebuffed the popular notion, saying, "She certainly didn't break the group up.

"I don't think you can blame her for anything," he told David Frost in a TV interview, revealing that Lennon was "definitely going to leave" the band.

Lennon and Ono married in 1969, although they have collaborated on recording albums in 1968 when he was still part of the Beatles. They had been married until Lennon was murdered in December 1980 by Mark David Chapman.
