In an interview with TV Guide, "The Young and the Restless" creator Jill Farren Phelps explained the twist involving Ian Ward and Mariah. While explaining the sudden development, she explained Ray Wise's Ian Ward was with them for a "short story arc." But soon they realized they would want to have him for a longer period of time. Thus it was necessary to connect his character to someone other than Nikki and Dylan.

She revealed that they have "long term plan" for Ray's character. A "great story" for him in store and "June is going to be huge and very crazy," teases Phelps. Now that he is out of jail, he is going to be in Genoa City. His storyline will initially revolve around his connection with Mariah and their relationship, but fans can look forward to the revelation of a "much bigger picture."

Not revealing much about the history of their relationship, she teased Mariah could be Ian's disciple or his daughter "in some form." About Ian, he still has feelings for Nikki and his sole purpose is to mess with the Newman family or "infiltrate the whole-rich family connection."

As for fake Cassie/Mariah, Jill Fareen Phelps revealed that she is going to be a "huge threat" to Abby and Tyler's blossoming relationship. She is also going to have "enormous involvement" in Newman family, particularly Sharon and Nick's relationship. Jill describes her as a "wild girl" but not a good one. Fans should not look forward to see her feeling sorry for Sharon, but her connection to Ian will be another big reveal.

Meanwhile, "The Young and the Restless" May spoilers are making the round. Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported some spoilers from Soap Opera Digest's print edition for the month of May. There is a love triangle in making and results of which will be "explosive." While there are sparks flying between Neil and Hilary, Devon also seems to be falling in love with Hilary. Hilary must choose between Neil and Devon, keeping in mind that Devon's daughter Lily is not fond of her.

The Web site notes that episodes in the month of May will see more of Ian Ward and Abby Newman will do everything to get rid of Mariah, Tyler's ex.

As for Adam Newman's return, Chelsea is planning to organize a memorial for her late husband. Celebrity Dirty Laundry points out that there are rumors that new Adam Newman and Michael Muhney's replacement may finally make an appearance at his own memorial service. Furthermore, Fans know that Elizabeth Hendrickson's Chloe will be gradually written off the "Y&R" script.

Meanwhile, a list of Daytime Emmy Award nominations has been announced. Fan-favorite, long running day time soap opera "The Young and the Restless" has acquired 26 nominations, according to Today.com. The show is leading the list of nominees and is followed by "Bold and the Beautiful" with 18 and "General Hospital" with 16. "Y&R" has been nominated for categories including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in Drama Series (with four out of five nominations) and more.
