Pornography film giant YouPorn has long been trying to squeeze itself into the eSports industry, in particular through Defence of the Ancients 2, or DOTA 2. The company has been blocked a couple of times due to the sensitive word "Porn" in its company name and has not been able to capitalize into any opportunity.

Tournament organizers of a "DOTA 2" event and YouPorn have met in the middle with the compromise that the said word would no longer be in the team name. Instead of "Team YouPorn", the team that company will sponsor is using the name, "Team YP." The Twitterverse has been surprised with the announcement of the sponsorship as YouPorn will be backing a Spanish "DOTA 2" team previously known as Play2Win.

"Coinciding with the new 6 month agreement, Play2Win will officially debut under their new moniker, Team YP, in time for the start of the Gamergy competition in Madrid on December 5th," the official press release for the development said.

Team YP will have its baptism of fire this week as it participates in the upcoming Gamergy Tournament in Madrid, Spain. Brad Burns, the vice president of the premiere source of free online adult entertainment, was ecstatic in the new venture of the company. He added the announcement has been a long time coming, and he is looking forward to tearing through the competition in the upcoming events.

The Spain-based team is composed of veteran players, who have a variety of expertise in eSports games such as "DOTA 2", "League of Legends", "Call of Duty" and "Heroes of Warcraft", which are some of the games listed in its official team website. Team YP will be spearheaded by Spanish players namely, Ragabash, LoLQoP, SolmyR, Lawliet_91 and Mengue.

While this is the first time that an "adult entertainment company" has been directly involved in the eSports industry, it is not also the baptism of fire for the gaming community's tie-up with the adult entertainment business. Back in 2007, the Championship Gaming Series held its inaugural player draft at the Playboy mansion. Nevertheless, the direct involvement of an online porn company into the eSports world mostly inhabited by younger generations raises some eyebrows in some leagues. After all, Team YP will be sporting a logo of a giant sword penetrating a mountain, which could be graphically representative of what YouPorn is all about.
