Enviroweek 4 - 10 September 2011 is a week of action, behaviour change and fundraising for school's around the country. Time to make sure your class has signed up and that you are registered online to take on this challenge and get sponsorship from your mates!

During Enviroweek (4 - 10 September 2011) these normally modest Clark Kent environmentalists become Green Heroes, a source of inspiration for us all and a beacon of hope for our environment.

To become a Green Team you register your class to take on a challenge, get sponsored by your friends and fundraise for your school's green project. It's that simple.

Enviroweek began in 2009 with around 200 people taking on an environmental challenge. These Green Heroes were sponsored by around 1000 of their mates raising more than $58,000 for environmental organisations around Australia.

In 2011 we are focusing Enviroweek on generating action in Australian schools allowing them to raise much needed funds for their own green projects.

It's all about taking on a challenge that suits you, changing your behaviour during Enviroweek and getting into good habits for the rest of the year.

We agree with Enviroweek and Cool Australia when they say "You don't need to be a greenie to be green." This is our right as Australians to step up and make sure our country is healthy and happy! So make sure you have signed up for Enviroweek during 4 - 10 September 2011!

Ideas for your Enviroweek challenge. Why not create your own?

  • To save water, shower with pets and loved ones (good luck if you own a cat)
  • Plant trees or a veggie garden at school or at home
  • Get your teacher to turn off all the class lights and equipment every night... or take the fuses home in your pocket.
  • Ask your school or Mum and Dad to make the switch to green power electricity
  • Give meat a miss, you may not even miss it.
  • Start a compost or worm farm (mind you they're a bugger to milk)
  • Catch public transport, it actually works and isn't that scary.
  • Ride your bike or walk everywhere with or without lycra, up to you.
  • Grab an outfit from your local op shop and show off your style
  • Live rubbish free.
  • Create your own challenge!

Try something silly:

  • Wear your undies on the outside and be an Enviroweek Superhero
  • Wear a green wig and call yourself The Green Phantom.
  • Dress in green and when called a leprechaun yell "I'm an environmental superhero!"
  • Eat only green food (mainly recommended for single people
