YouTube Celebrates 9th Anniversary With Karaoke Night [Watch YouTube Clip]
Video sharing network YouTube has released a mash-up music video to celebrate its ninth birthday. The music video has gone viral amassing nearly 150,000 views in a day.
YouTube's music video features memorable musical moments and performers from its history. Among its favorite performers were the mash-up videos of The Gregory Brothers, Chester See, Cimorelli, Steve Kardynal, Tay Zonday, Mystery Guitar Man, Madilyn Bailey, David Choi, Marie Digby, Alex G. and Timothy DeLaGhetto.
Tay Zonday performed Chocolate Rain generating over 96.8 million views since it was uploaded in 2007. The Gregory Brothers performed a mix of their channels getting almost 140,000 views since 2013.
Also featured in the music video was the Bed Intruder Song, which got over 121 million views since 2010. Here It Goes Again by OK Go generated over 20.8 million views and was also featured.
The music video also featured the song "Friday" by Rebecca Black earning over 68.1 million views since it was uploaded in 2011. The music Trololo generated almost 750,000 views since 2010 and was also featured in YouTube's music video.
Anna Kendricks' "When I'm Gone" was also featured in the music video after generating almost 135 million views since April 2013. The performance in the music video was even complete with shuffling of cups on the table like the viral video.
Carly Rae Jepsen's viral video on "Call me Maybe" was also featured in the YouTube's karaoke night video. Call me Maybe has generated over 556.8 million views since March 2012.
But the highlight of all the song's featured in YouTube's karaoke night music video is the Gangnam Style. The music generated over 481 million views since it was uploaded in August 2012.
YouTube also posted a video showcasing behind the scenes of the music video.
According to Time Magazine, the first video that YouTube Co-founder Jawed Karim posted the site was a 18-second clip titled, "Me at the Zoo."
The short footage showed Karim pointing to the elephant behind him which he pointed out to have "really, really, really long trunks." It was uploaded in April 23, but the site went live in May.
