YouTube Star Bethany Mota Talks About Doing Videos To Cope With Bullies And Respond To Haters
Bethany Mota's bullies must be shaking their heads in amazement now. The girl transformed herself from a 13-year-old bullied young girl into a YouTube star with more than 7 million admirers, a fashion designer for Aeropostale, and a "Dancing With The Stars" contestant in a span of five years. She now has a cover for Seventeen too! Looking at her bubbly personality on her YouTube videos and amazing dance moves in DWTS, one can hardly believe that she was once bullied. On her cover interview with Seventeen, she talks about her past bullies, her current haters, and her advice for teens looking for their place in this world.
At only 18 years old, Bethany Mota has already inspired girls all over the world to be themselves. Her 7M followers on Youtube is a testament of how relatable she is, and this is even before her face became plastered all over Aeropostale ads and fashion magazines. Asked if she has advice for girls who just want to be like her -- confident and apparently in tune with her place in this world -- Bethany provided a heartfelt answer, calling for girls to just be themselves and look for what makes them happy.
"There's always something you can be the best at--you just have to look for it," she told Seventeen.
Apart from being bullied when she was young, Bethany also shared that she still has a slew of haters now that she's getting a lot of media attention. Her reaction? Nothing.
"I say do not respond with hate, because you might make that person feel terrible ..." Bethany shared to Seventeen. For her, it's best to be positive on all things, and if that seems difficult, ignoring haters is the next best thing to do.
She also talked about how doing something as mundane as YouTube videos on hair, fashion and beauty helped her. She shared that it was once an outlet for her to be herself when she was being bullied so much in school. She said doing videos made her feel less of a pushover because she started to realize the value of self-motivation. Doing such videos helped her overcome her fear of being different, and if she can do it, she said other girls can do it too, because it "pays off way more to be yourself."
Fans can catch Bethany Mota on her regularly updated YouTube page and in "Dancing with the Stars." Her charm and natural dancing prowess have fans claiming she'll win, with or without her humungous number of followers, Bustle reports.
