The story about Zhang Ziyi's sex and prostitution scandal was first published in Apple Daily News, a Hongkong-based newspaper. According to the article, Zhang Ziyi was sleeping with different powerful men in China in exchange for a high amount of money. One of her supposed clients is Bo Xilai, a Chinese politician that is currently being investigated for abuse of power and corruption charges. The newspaper also disclosed that Zhang Ziyi was able to charge 10 million Yuan for her appointment with Bo Xilai.
On the other hand, Zhang Ziyi's camp are vehemently denying the news about her supposed sex and prostitution activities as well as her involvement with the high-profile politician. In their latest statement, Zhang Ziyi is demanding an apology for the information written about her. They also mentioned that they will be taking legal action for this issue.
A representative from Zhang Ziyi's camp released a statement through E! News stating "The accusations made against award-winning actress Zhang Ziyi are completely false and defamatory. There is no truth in any of the allegations that have come forth, which are a result of calculated cruel intentions against a well-respected established actress. Legal repercussions are ensuing and these scandalous reports will not be tolerated in any way."

The letter states that the newspaper's report regarding the scandal has caused her reputation to be "seriously damaged and she has suffered considerable distress and embarassment." The letter also disclosed that the newspaper need to publish a public letter of apology or they would face legal action and damage claims.
