Zooey Deschanel gave an amazing rendition of God Bless America during Tuesday's 7th inning of Game 3 of the NLCS played between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies.

ChrisKingTV comments on Deschanel's YouTube video on the event, "This was the most genuine God Bless America rendition I have ever heard. The people could actually sing along with her. Usually they won't because the singer? would always do extra runs and reach notes that average people can't get to."

The 30-year-old Deschanel is an American actress, musician, and singer-songwriter who started out in the movie industry with the 1999 film Mumford. This was followed by the 2000 comedy-drama film Almost Famous. In 2002, The New York Times calls Deschanel as was "one of Hollywood's most sought-after young stars," while in 2003, the Los Angeles Times said that she had become a recognizable type, due to "her deadpan, sardonic and scene-stealing [film] performances" as the protagonist's best friend. Objecting to her being typecasted, Deschanel commented, "A lot of these roles are just a formula idea of somebody's best friend, and it's like, I don't even have that many friends. In high school, I stayed home all the time, so I don't know how I'm everybody's best friend now."

Deschanel landed supporting roles in Elf (2003), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005), and Failure to Launch (2006), and finally played lead roles in the films Yes Man (2008) and (500) Days of Summer (2009).

Deschanel singing voice was heard in several of her films but her musical talents is not confined to vocals. She may perhaps be considered a multi-instrumentalist as she does keyboards, percussion, banjo and ukulele. In 2001, she started performing with fellow actress Samantha Shelton in 2001 in the jazz cabaret act of "If All the Stars Were Pretty Babies." She recorded her first album, aptly named "Volume One", with M. Ward under the moniker "She & Him" and had it released in March 18, 2008.

Deschanel is married to lead singer and guitarist Ben Gibbard of the American indie rock band "Death Cab for Cutie."
