Ellie Goulding Admits Getting Relationship Advice From Taylor Swift Over Ed Sheeran

Ellie Goulding has finally spoken up about reports that Ed Sheeran’s hit song “Don’t” was made for her after she had supposedly cheated on him with One Direction singer Niall Horan. Ellie admitted she had gone out on a few dates with Niall but never while on a relationship with Ed Sheeran. The singer also revealed that she had turned to Taylor Swift for advice about the matter.

According to UK’s The Daily Record, Ellie Goulding had turned to Taylor Swift for advice after rumours spread of Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t” supposedly talking about her two-timing him with Niall Horan. The “Love Me Like You Do” singer admitted having dated the One Direction singer but denied ever having been “in a relationship” with Ed Sheeran. “I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing,” she said.

Ellie Goulding further added that she finds it “frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven’t dated.” Goulding said it’s this controversy that she and Taylor Swift talk about a lot since the latter “gets bothered by it” too. Taylor reportedly also shares the same sentiment and also thinks that it’s usually what differentiates the female artists from the male artists.

“It’s like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you have had or not had,” she explained.

Ed Sheeran had previously spoken up about the contents of his song “Don’t” during a radio interview with the Howard Stern Show. According to MTV News, it was during his interview that Ed had hinted on Niall Horan as the cause of his breakup with Ellie Goulding. When asked if his song was making any reference to “the guy in One Direction,” Ed laughed and said, “Well, it depends on which one you’re talking about.”

However, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran have reportedly patched things up now and have been spotted on numerous times hanging out with Taylor Swift. Goulding has also since moved on from Niall Horan and is now dating long-time boyfriend Dougie Poynter.
