18-Karat Gold Apple Watch Priced At $10K; Walk-In Buyers Not Allowed – Must Have A Reservation
The Apple Watch can now be purchased in various Apple stores, but it would appear that buyers will have to make a reservation first. This detail is reportedly applicable to the device’s three variants, namely its entry-level version, its mid-level version and its luxury edition.
According to CNET, an employee from Apple will be readily available to assist anyone who might want to place an order either through the website or through the Apple store app. The Sport version is priced at $349, while the standard Apple Watch can be purchased at a price of $549.
Meanwhile, those who are interested in getting the high end 18-karat gold version will reportedly be given more attention as compared to those who are about to buy the two less expensive variants, as reported by 9t05Mac. At a price of $10,000, the gold edition is being marketed, not just as a smartwatch, but as an actual piece of luxurious jewelry.
They will be faced by a dedicated “expert” who has reportedly been trained in selling and marketing the device. These said experts will be dealing with only a couple of potential buyers at the same time, while those who are trying to sell the entry-level and mid-level versions will be juggling several customers at once.
From April 10th to the 24th, potential buyers are provided with hands-on demonstrations to the new Apple Watch, especially those who are situated in Australia, France, United States, Japan, Germany, China, United Kingdom and Hong Kong.
The reason why Apple has decided to launch the wearable device via reservation or pre-order remains unclear. However, Hot Hardware has reported that the company might be staring at an initially low inventory of the Apple Watch. Either that, or they simply want to juice the demand for their wearable gadget.
Also, the company has thought of a way to address the purchasing needs of those who may not be able to physically go to an Apple store. Instead, they can have a videoconference with an Apple salesperson for a discussion about the device.
