The Wichita State Shockers pulled off another upset in the 2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association, or NCAA Tournament by beating no. 2 seed Kansas Jayhawks, 78-65 in the Round of 32 match-up held at the CenturyLink Center Omaha in Nebraska in the United States.

Seeded seventh in the Midwest region of the NCAA bracket, Wichita State had all of their starters scoring in double figures led by guards Tekele Cotton, who had 19 points and Fred VanVleet, who had 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The Shockers advance to the Sweet Sixteen round against Notre Dame, which defeated Butler, 67-64 in their previous game.

"We don't have McDonald's All-Americans, we don't have guys that have been in the spotlight, and been given that pedestal," VanVleet said post-game to the Associated Press. "We work for everything we've got, from managers to coaches to our preacher to, you know, whoever. We've scrapped and fought our whole lives."

Wichita State made 10 three-pointers and shot 49 per cent overall from the field while the Jayhawks struggled on the floor at 35.1 percent and 28.6% from three-pointers. The Jayhawks led, 24-16 with five minutes to go in the first half but the Shockers rallied to grab the 29-26 first half lead then went on to dominate the second half, 49-39. Wichita State defeated Indiana, 81-76 in the second round. Other starters with 10 points or more against Kansas were Darius Carter with 10 points, Evan Wessel with 12 points and Ron Baker also with 12 points.

Three players ended up in double figures for Kansas led by forward Perry Ellis with 17 points and 8 rebounds, Devote Graham with 17 points and 5 steals and Frank Mason III with 16 points and 5 rebounds.
