Notre Dame vs. Butler in 2015

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat the Bulter Bulldogs, 67-64 in overtime in the Round of 32 in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Guard Steve Vasturia, led Notre Dame in scoring with 20 points while Jerian Grant added 16 points including a clutch basket in the extra period.

Notre Dame led by as many as 10 points in the first half and 31-29 at the halftime break but survived the Butler rally. The Bulldogs had the 50-49 lead with over five minutes to go in the game. Vasturia made a basket with 3 minutes to go to give Notre Dame a 55-52 lead but Butler guard Kellen Dunham made the three pointer to tie the game at 55-55 with three minutes to go in regulation.

Both teams failed to make shots the rest of the second half. In overtime, Vasturia and Grant carried the scoring load for the Fighting Irish including the game-clinching lay-up from Grant with 21 seconds to go.

Kameron Woods added 13 points and Zach Auguste contributed 7 points and 13 rebounds for Notre Dame, which advanced to the Sweet Sixteen round and will play the winner of the Kansas Jayhawks-Wichita State Shockers match-up on Sunday. The Fighting Irish beat the Northeastern Huskies in their opening round of the NCAA Tournament in another close game, 69-65 last Friday. Grant also came up big in that game with 17 points while Auguste led the team in scoring with 25 points.

Forwards Roosevelt Jones had 23 points and Andrew Chrabascz finished with 20 points while Kameron Woods had 8 points and 15 rebounds and Dunham had 8 points for Butler. Notre Dame continues their impressive run this season after beating the Duke Blue Devils and the North Carolina Tar Heels days before the NCAA Tournament.
