2015 Met Gala: Rihanna Hits Red Carpet In Her Massive Train Guo Pei, Cara Delevingne Inks Chinese Birds And Blossoms
Rihanna hit the red carpet with a massive train at the 2015 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4 in New York City. While this year celebrates the museum's Costume Institute exhibition titled “China: Through the Looking Glass”, the Barbados beauty was dressed in a showstopping Guo Pei haute couture gown with a long embroidered train. The robe dress needed four trained handlers to carry across the red carpet and up the stairs, according to US Weekly.
Rihanna has been on a roll this year with her pink Giambattista Valli number at the 2015 Grammy Awards in February. The voluminous gown showcased cupcake couture and ended up taking three seats. The “Bitch Better Have My Money” crooner shut down the red carpet in the fur-rimmed Guo Pei robe.
Besides, she was one of the most high profile celebrities at the event to represent the Chinese fashion scene at the China-themed event. The designer has developed a reputation as China’s answer to Alexander McQueen, dressing Chinese celebs like Zhang Ziyi, Li Bingbing and Fan Bingbing. She wore a little pink mini-dress underneath the regal ensemble. Rihanna revealed to Vogue that the dress was hand made by one woman and it took her two years to make the garb in time for the Gala.
The “Four Five Seconds” singer styled her long train cape with a crystal-embellished gold Guo Pei headpiece, Cartier jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels. The 27-year-old beauty completed her look with metallic strappy sandals. Rihanna is no strange to taking risks on the red carpet, and this is perhaps her boldest look yet. Cara Delevingne made her entry on the red carpet in a Stella McCartney silhouette pant in black. But the highlight of her ensemble was her tattoos and not her outfit. The model had temporary tattoos inked all over her body with Chinese birds and blossoms. The custom created tattoos is by celebrity tattoo artist Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy. He has inked Cara with a lion tattooed on her index finger, and “BACON” inked on the bottom of her foot.
