Cara Delevingne’s Tom Ford Black Orchid Perfume Advertisement Banned Within 100 Meters From Schools in London Despite ASA’s Evaluation Of The Shot
Cara Delevingne’s Tom Ford Black Orchid perfume fragrance advertisement was reportedly banned within 100 meters from any London school. The ad features the 22-year-old model in the nude while enjoying a soak in water filled with flower petals, clutching at a perfume bottle with a sultry look, although there was no exposure of her intimate parts. Apparently the shot was considered inappropriate for young children, with its sexual undertones.
The shot has been previously featured in print before the onslaught of complaints. The public protested after the ad was placed in an East London billboard, according to Harper’s Bazaar U.K. As a response to widespread disapproval, the ad was subsequently banned from a considerable distance from schools where innocent children may chance upon it.
Tom Ford defended the shot, appealing that the ad was but appealing to aesthetics and does not in any way aim to project an overtly sexual air. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) agreed that the shot was more expressive than inappropriate and degrading or objectifying the young woman, according to Cosmopolitan U.K. “Whilst they [Tom Ford] accepted the model was nude...they believe neither her pose nor facial expression were sexually suggestive and were classical in nature, and had been depicted in art,” ASA offered.
Thus far, Cara Delevingne did not remark on the issue. It appears the promising young model is just going to let this one pass, as all issues eventually die down after a while. Also, she is up to her knees in various projects.
She hails as the new face of Chanel, alongside her CC partner, Pharrell Williams. The pair had danced and sang the soundtrack for a classy video, proved their immense talent through a joint live performance at Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collection, and of course, revolutionizing the fashion campaign through stylish, chic and classy print ads, according to MTV.
With so much in store and a bright career ahead of her, it is unlikely that the young model will be hindered by the Tom Ford ad ban from pursuing modelling.
