3 Reasons Why the New Motorola DROID Phones Could Be Worth Considering
Three new Motorola DROID phones are being launched Wednesday, July 24, at Verizon. The 4G LTE phones made by Motorola Mobility are the 4.3-inch DROID Mini, 5-inch DROID Ultra and 5-inch DROID Maxx.
Although the new phones would be available only beginning Aug 20, Verizon will begin taking pre-orders on Wednesday.
However, younger generation of mobile phone users more familiar with now popular brands such as Apple, Samsung, HTC, Sony and Nokia may have second thoughts about buying the DROID phones.
Here are at least 3 good reasons why the new DROID devices may be worth considering.
1. Price point. Unlike the price tags on popular brands that could bust your savings or break the bank, the DROID phones are affordable, while offering a known American brand. The DROID Mini would sell for $99, the DROID Ultra for $199 and the DROID Max for $299, all for two-year contracts.
2. X8 Mobile Computing System - Besides the friendly price points, another advantage that the DROID devices offer is its use of the X8 mobile computing system which is made up of two application processor cores, four graphics processor cores, one contextual computing processor core and one natural language processor core. The system allows for touchless control of the devices that users could make phone calls and seek directions hands-free. CNET said the CPU runs 24 per cent faster compared to phones using other systems.
3. Specs - Two of these three phones will use the AMOLED Gorilla Glass for its display. The DROID Maxx model has a 720x1,280 pixel resolution and come with a 3,500mAh battery that offers 48 hours of continuous battery life. The DROID Ultra measures 7.18 millimetres in thickness, sports also a 720p display, a 2,130mAg battery that lasts up to 28 hours and comes in black and red colours. The DROID Mini has a TFT 720p screen and a 2,000mAh battery that lasts 28 hours.
Common across all three models are the 1.7GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, 2GB of RAM and 10-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1080p HD recording and 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The Maxx will have 32GB of internal storage, but the UItra and Mini will have only 16GN storage.
Consumers who may not be convinced with these three reasons may opt to wait for the launch of the Moto X on Aug 1 in New York.
