A 10-year-old Mexican boy was killed on Friday by a 4-metre crocodile in the state of Oaxaca. The boy was playing with his older brother, aged 13, near a swollen river when the reptile just grabbed the child's heat and dragged him for several metres before releasing the child.

By Sunday, the killer croc was captured and brought to a national crocodile sanctuary, according to the attorney general's environmental protection office. It was one of 28 crocs captured in urban areas following the tropical storms Ingrid and Manuel that battered both coasts of Mexico two weeks ago.

As a result, the reptiles emerged from the swollen rivers and roamed urban areas.

A few weeks back, Australia faced a similar problem with a male camper also killed by a crocodile while swimming in a swampy area.

In some areas where reptiles are quite common, Gator teams are tapped to catch the alligators such as the one in this video.

However, captive reptiles may not live for long like what happened to the Philippines' Lolong, which eventually died after ingesting a plastic net.
