5 Colour Options, 3 Screen Sizes for iPhone 5S, Low-Cost iPhone on July-August Release Date
New reports have emerged pointing to wider variants for the iPhone 5S and its low-cost edition come the iOS handsets' purported release date between the months of July and August.
The next-generation iPhone will reportedly rollout in three more colours apart from the original black and white, according to a new story published by Japanese blog site MacOtakara.
It is possible that Apple will take a page from the current colour menu of its music player, the iPod Touch, which retails in black, white, pink, yellow, blue and red. However, the MacOtakara story did not mention the specific colours that Apple is using on the iPhone 5S and its budget sibling.
The same blog report suggested too that adjustments have been made by Apple, leading to a pushback of the tech giant's new smartphones. From the earlier indications that the new devices will be debuted June 20 leading to a July availability, it now hinted that a July unveiling is more favoured to be followed by an August release date.
Meanwhile, Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White is convinced that Apple is ditching the 4-inch screen size for new dimensions that would make the iPhone 5S more competitive against its Android rivals, chief of them Samsung's Galaxy S4 and HTC One.
In a new note sent to investors, Mr White aired his view that "Apple will release the iPhone 5S in at least two screen sizes this summer and possibly three."
The fresh assessments, he noted, were based on his private meetings with Asian manufacturing firms that are reportedly part of Apple's iPhone supply chain, thus giving credence to his projections.
Consumers, Mr White said, can expect the next iPhone releases to sport bigger screens from the recently upgraded iPhone 5.
"We are being told that the minimum size needed by Apple is a 4.5-inch display on the iPhone; however, a 5-inch to 5.5-inch would be optimal," Mr White shared.
It is understood that the iPhone 5S and its more affordable version will be launched sharing most of the characteristics that Apple has finalised, save, of course, on the processing chips and the body material.
The iPhone 5S is expected to be powered by an A7 CPU with the same mix of glass and aluminium for its body-make while the budget iPhone should retain the A6 chip with a polycarbonate shell protecting its components.
