With the recent introduction of the new iPhone 5, it put everyone in frenzy in attempt to get their hands on the new device.

Apple unveiled its latest smartphone in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts, and has the entire tech world watching to see the next generation iPhone. Some of its amazing features are 4G/LTE connectivity, 4-inch screen display and new operating system.

There are some people who are not impressed with the new Apple device on its introduction last week. There are changes that can affect one's decision to get one.

Below are some of the reasons why you should think twice before upgrading to the new iPhone 5 and let go of your old smartphone.

  1. 4G/LTE Connectivity - Apple is reported to be working on the fastest wireless networks around the world, including in the Europe, Asia and - hopefully - Australia, as well as the USA. However, it is best to make sure that 4G/LTE connectivity works smoothly in the land down under.
  2. Dock Connector - The new phone probably will have a new, smaller connector to connect it to a computer, doing away with the standard 30-pin connector that has been the staple for Apple's iPhones for years.
  3. Cases and Accessories - Following the change of iPhone's dock connector, it means that you should upgrade all of your external accessories. Apple will probably release a new adapter that goes from the new connector to the old connector to help mitigate problems, but it will also mean extra cost.
  4. iPhone Apps - One of the major reasons that Apple keeps its 3.5-inch screen display is because some iPhone apps are designed for its size and aspect ratio. Although moving towards a larger screen may be a benefit to movie junkies since a lot of films are shot on that ratio, it may mean bad news to your favorite apps. We advise the consumers to check first if your important apps, especially those essential apps that you use everyday, work on the new screen of iPhone 5.
  5. Nano SIM support - If you are planning to buy the new iPhone 5 off the shelves, you may have to consider that the new device uses nano SIMs. Your old macro SIMs may not work in the new iPhone.

iPhone 5 is already available for pre-order among major carriers. Telstra and Optus which offered 4G/LTE connection in Australia is already out of stocks for pre-order. The latest smartphone will arrive in shelves on September 21.
