When Samsung ushered in the Galaxy S4 earlier this month, some experts voiced out their disappointments, bemoaning that the flagship phone introduced by the South Korean tech giant lacks the so-called 'killer features'.

The chorus was the Galaxy S4 is not a game-changer at all.

However, it was undeniable, notwithstanding experts' initial assessments, that Samsung had unleashed a power-packed device in the S4 and when pitted against Apple's iPhone 5, this Android handset readily enjoys six key advantages over the iOS-powered smartphone.

And the rundown follows.

Better screen rendering

Samsung pushed out a new Super AMOLED flavour with the S4, calling it Full HD Super AMOLED that beams out crisp images and videos on a jaw-dropping resolution of 1920 x 1080 with pixel density of 441ppi.

True the iPhone 5 screen is laced with Retina display technology but cutting-edge as it was when introduced September last year, it is dwarfed by Samsung's new take on phone screen rendering.

Larger screen real-estate

The number speaks volume for the Galaxy S4 and this is something that Apple cannot argue with. The U.S. tech giant can harp all it want that the iPhone's 4-inch is immersive enough but the S4's 5-inch viewing window will win contest any time of the day.

Bigger screen translates to wider viewing pleasures that make the iPhone 5 front seemingly outdated.

Fast and smooth operation further bumped up

The iPhone 5 relies on A6 dual-core processing chip that taps on a 1GB of RAM for its overall operation. It was fast and it was smooth but the best that Apple had deployed with its present flagship is bettered by Samsung engineers.

Quad-core against dual-core is a no contest or the blazing speed that came with the Galaxy S4 will leave behind the iPhone 5. More so if the Apple handset is line up against the S4's international version, which Samsung said will be powered by an 8-core Exynos Octa 5 CPU. Note too that the S4 has a generous RAM provision of 2GB, ensuring that multi-tasking on the phone will bring it to a lag or freeze.

Superior cam features

This again is a number-based contest and a 13MP sensor for the main Galaxy S4 snapper will surely overwhelm the iPhone 5's 8MP shooter. Sure it's not always megapixels that dictate the outcome of smartphone camera fight but Samsung made sure that even neophyte camera enthusiasts get ample support with the bevy of apps that come with the S4's image and video recorder.

Platform flexibility

Android, TouchWiz and JellyBean - these mix ensure that Galaxy S4 users will experience full smartphone capabilities and more. The 'more' means extending what a normal mobile phone can do like serving as a tool for a superb multimedia enjoyment.

And with the possibility that Google's Key Lime Pie will set the tone for more improvements later this year, iOS and Siri look like the technology of yesteryears. Apple had aimed for hardware and software integration but it also delivered restrictions for iOS device users. And limitation is not in Google's vocabulary.

Higher storage, longer smartphone hours

The Galaxy S4's plastic shell provides openings for users to add up more storage capacity and to change battery when necessary. The iPhone 5 is closed nut that the average users cannot pry open without damaging its case.

As a result, S4 owners can enjoy a total of 128GB of memory if the 64GB Galaxy S4 model is paired with a 64GB microSD card. And they can last a whole day of extensive phone usage without the need to recharge. Thanks to the S4's removable back cover, users can move around with a fully-charged extra battery, which they can easily slide in when the S4 juice starts running down.
